The Seton Catholic Sentinels will challenge the Florence Gophers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Seton Catholic was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Coolidge on Thursday. The Sentinels were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Bears. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Max Peterson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Josh Brown was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Ruiz, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, while Florence put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for San Tan Foothills. The Gophers blew past the Sabercats 14-0. With that victory, the Gophers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Jagger Navarro made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Tanner Gammons was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Wyatt Stenson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Florence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Tan Foothills only managed one hit.
Seton Catholic's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Florence, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Seton Catholic beat Florence 3-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Sentinels repeat their success, or do the Gophers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
