It was a good run, but the Sebastian River Sharks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central. Sebastian River has not had much luck with Central recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Sebastian River lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Samiya Adams, who scored six points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Pickard, who scored six points.
Sebastian River's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Central, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Sebastian River will take on Somerset College Prep Academy in a holiday battle at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Kaeley Ciceron and Adams. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Dr. Phillips at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dr. Phillips presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Central in Florida (Dr. Phillips is ranked 21st, while Central is ranked 116th).
