Basketball Game Preview: Nimitz Cougars vs. MacArthur Generals

Nimitz has gone 9-1 against MacArthur recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Nimitz Cougars will take on the MacArthur Generals at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Nimitz's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.

It was a proper cat-fight when Nimitz duked it out withDekaney on Friday. Nimitz blew past Dekaney, posting a 68-18 victory. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Wildcats are ranked 1184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aniah Richard was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 28 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. That's the most assists she has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamora Lewis, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 13 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Nimitz was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dekaney only posted one assist.

Meanwhile, MacArthur can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 43-35 win over Benjamin Davis.

Nimitz has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for MacArthur, their victory bumped their record up to 6-19.

Nimitz strolled past MacArthur when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 39-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nimitz since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
