After a string of five wins, The Crockett Cougars''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by LBJ Austin 57-21. Crockett has not had much luck with LBJ Austin recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Dickey, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Dickey's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Wilson, who picked up 127 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Caleb Crenshaw, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Crenshaw is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Yaheim Riley made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Crockett's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for LBJ Austin, their victory was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 7-3.
Crockett will take on University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Cade Bynnom and Dickey. As for LBJ Austin, they will take on Pflugerville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
