The Speedway Sparkplugs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Southport with a sharp 50-30 win on Saturday. This was payback for Speedway, who suffered a 61-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Alex DeLisle was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. Daniella Galvez was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Southport lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Teasia Bibbs, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Nola Linson, who scored 11 points.
Speedway is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Southport, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Speedway will be home for the holidays to greet Christel House at Manual at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southport's road trip will continue as they head out to face Indianapolis Arsenal Technical at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th.
