The West Tallahatchie Choctaws lost against the Simmons Blue Devils last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Tallahatchie was dealt a 68-29 defeat at the hands of the Blue Devils. West Tallahatchie was down 61-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
When it comes to explaining why West Tallahatchie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mi'Kenzi Christian. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points. That was a full 48.3% of West Tallahatchie's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Simmons was led to victory by Aaliyah Esco and Akiah Prince. Esco dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Prince dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Esco scored 15 or more points. Kristen Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
This is the second loss in a row for West Tallahatchie and nudges their season record down to 9-11. As for Simmons, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
West Tallahatchie won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. West Bolivar is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Simmons does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
