The Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 35-14 defeat at the hands of Iona Prep. Kellenberg Memorial has struggled against Iona Prep recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Although Kellenberg Memorial took the loss, they still got scores from Christian Dacosta and Jack Barkley.
Iona Prep was led to victory by Crew Davis and Joey Gaston. Davis rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, while Gaston rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Kellenberg Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Iona Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kellenberg Memorial will take on Monsignor Farrell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Monsignor Farrell will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Iona Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Moore Catholic at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Moore Catholic is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
