The Laurel Highlands Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 13th straight loss. They fell 68-61 to Elizabeth Forward. While losing is never fun, Laurel Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 538th, while Elizabeth Forward is ranked 191st).
Aiden Black and Ethan Koffler certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Black scored 18 points, while Koffler scored 17 points. Shane Layton was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Laurel Highlands dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Elizabeth Forward, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
Laurel Highlands will head out on the road to challenge Albert Gallatin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Albert Gallatin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 338 points over their last five games. As for Elizabeth Forward, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southmoreland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
