Baseball Recap: Round Valley Has No Trouble Against Pima

Round Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Pima on Saturday. Round Valley was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Pima. Considering the Elks have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lane Hill made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hill was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brody Crick was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeffery Cochran, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Round Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. Pima's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Round Valley will take on Pinon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinon will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Round Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pima, they will face off against Phoenix Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
