The Cedar Reds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 67-57 to Snow Canyon. While losing is never fun, Cedar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Snow Canyon is ranked 29th).
When it comes to explaining why Cedar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Easton Albrecht. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Hayden Kee, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Cedar were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Owen Mackay, who scored 35 points along with eight rebounds for Snow Canyon. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mackay has scored at least a third of Snow Canyon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Kelsch, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Cedar bumped their record down to 3-12 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Snow Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Cedar will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Pine View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday. As for Snow Canyon, they will head out on the road to challenge Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 629 points over their last nine matchups.
