Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Nimitz Cougars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 62-34 loss at the hands of Willis. While losing is never fun, Nimitz can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Willis is ranked 22nd).
Derek Lagway was his usual excellent self, rushing for 121 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns. Lagway hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for nine straight games. Daylion Robinson was in the mix too, providing Willis with three touchdowns.
Nimitz's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Willis, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Nimitz does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Willis will be playing in front of their home fans against Tomball Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tomball Memorial is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
