* Brenner, also an 11-time world champion age-group racquetball player, was named the state's top volleyball player and was all-state in basketball and softball as well. She will attend the University of Oregon on a volleyball scholarship.
* The 6-8 Jones led Jefferson of Portland to three-straight 5A titles and was a member of the U.S. Junior National Select Team and a McDonald's and Parade All-American. As a freshman, Jones is the leading scorer for the University of Kentucky.
* Multi-event specialist Keys led Sweet Home to its third consecutive 4A boys team title, winning four events: 110 high hurdles (14.54 seconds), high jump (6 feet, 3 inches), long jump (22-7), and pole vault (15-6). He is a freshman at Oregon.
* Woods, a redshirt volleyball player for Oregon State last fall, was a standout athlete in volleyball and basketball and was the state player of the year in both sports her senior year. She led Santiam Christian to a volleyball state title and to third place at the basketball state tournament as a senior.
* Annamarie Maag of
Jesuit (Portland), winner of three straight state cross country titles, won the Nike-Steve Prefontaine Award honoring the prep distance runner of the year. Earlier this year, she was named recipient of Gatorade's Oregon Female Distance runner.

Dayton, 51-50, in what might go down as the Oregon 3A boys game of the year. It was the second time this season that HC (20-3) defeated Dayton (17-6). Against 3A foes, HC is unbeaten in 11 games and Dayton is 8-2 with both losses against West Valley League rival HC. With
Jordan Tebbutt scoring 21 points, the Hawks defeated Dayton, 53-44 in last year's 3A state championship. Unbeaten against 3A teams this season, HC has won 32 of 34 games against 3A opponents the last two seasons. The two losses were to Dayton.

Westview (Portland) girls knocked the Crusaders from their perch, 60-54, on Feb. 2. Westview's
Jaime Nared, a 6-foot-1 freshman, led the upset with 27 points. The two teams rematch Feb. 16. The Crusaders bounced back to handle Beaverton (16-3) with ease three days later. The loss means 4A

NATIONAL PREP RECORD FOR CROUSERUsing the spin technique for the first time, Ryan Crouser of
Barlow (Gresham) set a national prep record by throwing the 16-pound shot put 63 feet, 11 inches. Competing in the New Balance West Invitational indoor meet at Boise State University, the 6-7, 240-pound Crouser broke the previous record of 60 feet, 7.5 inches by Arnold Campbell in 1984. Sidelined by injury, Crouser was competing for the first time since May.
No. 1 TEAM'S TOP PLAYER GOES DOWNJesuit (17-1) senior forward
Kyle Wiltjer could miss up to four weeks with a sprained right ankle. The 6-10 Kentucky-bound Wiltjer, who led No. 1 Jesuit to last year's Class 6A championship, injured his ankle during the Crusaders' Feb. 1 win (60-39) over No. 5 Westview. He averages 18.9 points per game. The first round of state boys 6A playoffs begin March 1 and the state tournament is March 9-12.
RIDDLE FRESHMAN SETS STATE SCORING RECORDRiddle freshman center
Pele Gianotti scored 52 points as the Irish won a pair of games. The 52 gave Pele 518 points in 21 games, raising her average to 24.67. The old mark was 515 by Philomath's Trisha Stevens in 1984. Riddle has three remaining regular season games, plus playoffs, for the six-foot Gianotti to add to her single-season total. Stevens holds the state career point total with 2,483 points. Riddle (19-2) leads all Oregon 2A girls teams with a 66 ppg average.
MILESTONEPortland Christian head coach Tom West reached another milestone recently when the Royals defeated Knappa 38-32 to give the veteran coach his 300th win in his 13th year coaching varsity girls. West is now 300-57 (.840) as a girls varsity coach. Prior to coaching the girls, he guided PC's junior varsity teams to 551 wins.
STREAKS*
Wilsonville's girls basketball team prolonged its Northwest Oregon Conference winning streak to 25 games by beating Parkrose, 61-38. The Wildcats' (14-2 overall, 8-0 NWOC) winning streak dates back to the 2008-09 season.

Jordan Wiley scored 25 points to lead No. 1 McKenzie (21-0), the lone unbeaten boys team in the state, to a 44-33 nonleague victory over Columbia Christian on Feb. 5. It was the 21st straight win for the Eagles. The previous school record of 20 straight wins was held by the 1978-79 Eagles - led by guard Mike Wiley, Jordan's father, and current McKenzie coach.
* Though they won seven of 14 preseason games, the Riverside (Boardman) girls have lost seven straight Eastern Oregon League games to stretch their league losing streak to 70. The last time the girls won in league was Jan. 30, 2004 when they defeated McGlougthlin of Milton-Freewater, 48-41
TOP PERFORMANCES* Franklin senior point guard
Jude Schimmel totaled 26 points, 11 steals, eight rebounds and seven assists in leading the 9-9 Quakers (7-4 5A PIL) to a win over Madison (6-11, 3-8). The 5-6 Schimmel tallied 38 points, 20 rebounds and 11 assists in a win over Benson a week earlier. She is averaging 29.7 points per game with a season high of 51 points. Add to that 5.6 assists and 7.8 steals per game.

Jen Reese scored 30 to lead Clackamas (6A) over West Linn. Reese, committed to Colorado, has guided the Cavaliers to a 17-1 record this season. Their only loss was Dec. 4, 65-37 to Potter's House Christian (Jacksonville, Fla.). The 6-foot forward was Oregon's Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior. The win, coupled with Jesuit's first loss, moved Clackamas atop the girls 6A poll.

Francisco Nunez poured in a career-high 39 points to lead the Irrigon to a 69-49 Blue Mountain Conference win over Union on Saturday. A sophomore point guard, Nunez came into his own last weekend with games of 29 and 28 points.

Hermiston wrestler Joey Delgado won twice to up his 130-pound record to 42-0 this season. For his four years, Delgado owns a mark of 142-2 and has three state titles. He will go for his fourth state title next month.

Alli Ehrhardt scored 19 points and broke Rogue River's career scoring record in a 58-20 win over Illinois Valley. The 5-foot-9 junior guard has 1,136 career points, surpassing Angie Caschera's 1,124 set in 2008.

Alexander Sattley scored 33 points and took over the 6A scoring lead as Franklin (7-10, 5-6 5A Portland Interscholastic League) defeated Madison in overtime. The 6-3 forward is averaging 29.4 ppg.

DALLAS MUST FORFEITDallas High School has been forced to forfeit two games in the second half of its Mid-Willamette Conference season because the number of scheduled games exceeded the state limit. Schools under the Oregon School Activities Association are allowed a total of 25 regular-season games. Dallas scheduled three games - but ended up playing five - during a trip to Germany in late December.
SOCCER RECRUITING* St. Mary's (Medford) senior
MacKenzie Krieser signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Division I University of San Francisco. Krieser scored 29 goals last season. She was a four-year starter at St. Mary's where she scored 94 goals, contributed 37 assists and was named conference MVP twice. She was a three-time all-state selection. The Crusaders lost 2-0 to Catlin Gabel in the Class 3A/2A/1A state championship game in 2010. San Francisco plays in the West Coast Conference and finished the 2010 season with a 5-13-2 overall record.
TRACK RECRUITING*
Oregon City senior Greg Skipper will continue a family tradition when he competes in track and field at the University of Oregon. Holder of the state hammer record (223 feet, 8 inches), Skipper signed Feb. 2. His father, Scott Skipper, played football and threw the javelin at Oregon (‘83-'88) and two of Greg's uncles are ex-Oregon standouts — the late Art Skipper (javelin), and pole vaulter Tommy Skipper. In addition to the youngest Skipper, the Ducks signed Oregon 5A 200 and 400 meter champion Jack Galpin from
Crater (Central Point) and 2010 Oregon 6A state cross country champion Matt Melacon of
Sheldon (Eugene).
