Josey is 0-10 against Laney since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Josey Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Laney Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Josey is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Josey was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-50 to Washington County. While losing is never fun, Josey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while Washington County is ranked 229th).
Laney posted their biggest victory since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Glenn Hills 77-41 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-16.
Josey's defeat was their 13th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Laney, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
Things could have been worse for Josey, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 76-58 loss to Laney when the teams last played on January 2nd. Can Josey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
