Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Damonte Ranch Mustangs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Reed on the road and fell 48-6. Damonte Ranch's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it five in a row.
Branden Radoumis threw for 126 yards and a touchdown. Jackson Papke was his top target, picking up 65 receiving yards. On the ground, Dj Gonzalez-brown rushed for 71 yards.
Leading Reed to victory were Nishaan Bajwa and Bronwyn Rios. Bajwa rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while Rios rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Zachary Taylor also helped out with an impressive 100 receiving yards.
Damonte Ranch's defeat was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 4-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Bishop Manogue and 7-4 Spanish Springs (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.2% over those games). As for Reed, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Damonte Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Reed will square off against Spanish Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Spanish Springs is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
