Spearfish had trouble last Thursday, and unfortunately for them, their opponent this week is a big step up in difficulty. Riggs and Spearfish go head to head on Thursday at 6:00 PM in their first playoff match of the year. The odds don't look promising for Spearfish, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.
Riggs put the finishing touches on their 6th blowout victory of the season. They put the hurt on Aberdeen Central with a sharp 30-0 victory. Among those leading the charge for Riggs was junior Garrett Stout, who picked up 71 yards on the ground and accumulated 150 passing yards. Stout has been a consistent playmaker for Riggs as this was the 8th good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, Spearfish found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 7-41 punch to the gut against Mitchell. Spearfish were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-27.
Riggs's win lifted them to 7-2 while Spearfish's loss dropped them down to 2-7. We'll see if Riggs can repeat their recent success or if Spearfish bounce back and reverse their fortune.
