In other batting news, Serenity Overton was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kinsie Harper was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Layton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.4.
Summit Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Layton, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14.
Summit Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 stolen bases per game.
