Maricopa is 0-4 against Casa Grande since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rams will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Maricopa didn't have quite enough to beat Vista Grande and fell 7-6.
Elizabeth Deupree put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
Deupree wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Hunt, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Ariana Calderon, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Casa Grande won against Buena on Monday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Cougars' way against Catalina Foothills as they made off with a 19-2 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Khiyah Barnett looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Casa Grande got a massive performance out of Adyson McClintic, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI McClintic has posted since back in March of 2024. Trinity Diaz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles.
Casa Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .690. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Maricopa's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11-1. As for Casa Grande, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-7.
Maricopa suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Casa Grande in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
