Ethan Guerra had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Guerra was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Alejandro Aparicio was another key contributor, throwing for 248 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Meanwhile, McAllen Memorial blew past Juarez-Lincoln, posting a 49-21 win at home. That's two games straight that McAllen Memorial has won by exactly 28 points.
McAllen Memorial's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kane Coy, who threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Aleman, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Their wins bumped Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North to 7-0 and McAllen Memorial to 5-2.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Guerra and Aleman. Guerra has put up some stellar numbers this year, and currently owns excellent season averages of 103.7 rushing yards per game this season. For his part, Aleman has averaged 114.4 rushing yards per game this season.
Everything came up roses for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North against McAllen Memorial in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-3 win.
