East Noble is 2-8 against DeKalb since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Knights will welcome the Barons at 5:30 p.m. East Noble is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, East Noble wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Parker Kerr was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, East Noble saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Ramey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, DeKalb waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Bulldogs. While the Barons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Aydan Parr and Bryson Gadson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Parr pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gadson pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, Parr posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Parr went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Gadson went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Parr also snagged a stolen base, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brendan Vance was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Brady Vince was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
DeKalb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.
DeKalb pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Noble, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. East Noble has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like DeKalb struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
East Noble beat DeKalb 5-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Barons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
