Mid-Penn - Commonwealth recap Oct. 3, 2012
Drew Scales of Central Dauphin ran for the longest rushing play in Mid-Penn - Commonwealth this season against State College last week. Scales scampered for 91 yards on the play and finished with 185 on the day as his team bested the Little Lions.
Central Dauphin East moved up to 97 from 135 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to make the jump by beating Carlisle 49-0.
State College's dynamic duo of pat irwin and sean king proved tough for Central Dauphin to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Irwin threw for 194 yards and one touchdown and king had 84 yards receiving. Dan Fry helped State College's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Brandon Lavia of Glen McNamee's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 654. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Cumberland Valley's Tyler Hartzel has rushed for 515 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is John Michael Maclay. The Mifflin County star has nine catches for 242 yards.
A big matchup in Mid-Penn - Commonwealth this week will be when Mifflin County takes on the Rams. As it stands, the Huskies are in fifth, while Central Dauphin is in third.
Harrisburg was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Mifflin County 38-0. The Cougars came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
