2A Colorado recap November 13, 2013
Bennett lost to Platte Valley 48-11 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jarrid McBride ran for 90 yards in the loss.
Kent Denver lost in the closest game of the week to 9-7 Manitou Springs. Jaden Franklin was a bright spot for the Sun Devils, as he ran for 174 yards in the defeat.
Kent Denver's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zander Ellis threw for 20 yards and Anders Soderberg had 21 yards receiving. On the ground Franklin chipped in 174 yards.
Scott Yates' team's dynamic duo of Ellis and Soderberg proved tough for the Mustangs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Seth Rodriquez was a key player and the best on defense this week as Bennett lost to the Broncos. He pulled down 1 interception and forced 1 fumble.
Franklin was a passing and rushing force as the Sun Devils lost to Manitou Springs. Franklin's favorite target this week was Soderberg, who caught 3 passes for 21 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Joey Matarazzo and Franklin, Kent Denver has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Matarazzo is tops in the league in passing with 788 yards, while Franklin has rushed for 1,360 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Denver West's Damien Nielsen, with 434 yards on 16 catches.
The top two teams in 2A Colorado will face off this week when first place Kent Denver takes on second place Bennett. Last week, the Sun Devils fell to Danny Gieck's team, while Rick Jacoby's team lost to Platte Valley.
In 94 carries Brandon Martinez has accumulated 918 yard this year.
McBride broke off the longest rushing play in the league this week with a 57-yard run against Troy Hoffman's team. McBride ended up with 90 yards rushing as the Tigers fell to the Broncos.
