Two dominant guards in MacKenzie Dumbuya and Haley Ricketts are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bethany Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th.
On Tuesday, College Prep & Leadership Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-36 to Asheboro Hybrid Academy.
Meanwhile, Bethany didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cornerstone Charter on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 34-30 victory. That's two games straight that Bethany has won by exactly four points.
Bethany can attribute much of their success to Braelyn Pennix, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Mattie Southard, who scored 18 points along with five steals and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Hattiejo Hopper, who scored four points along with four steals.
College Prep & Leadership Academy dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.6 points per game. As for Bethany, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season.
College Prep & Leadership Academy came up short against Bethany in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 70-59. Will College Prep & Leadership Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
