Maddie Reed was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Owen J. Roberts got a big performance out of Bella Winnick, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Amelia Atkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Owen J. Roberts hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Spring-Ford was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Perkiomen Valley by a score of 1-0. That makes it the first time this season the Rams have let down their home crowd.
Jess Fliszar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Spring-Ford's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Owen J. Roberts, their record is now 9-3.
Spring-Ford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Owen J. Roberts hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. It's a different story for Spring-Ford, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Owen J. Roberts' hitters?
