After three games on the road, Pendleton Heights is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Yorktown Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pendleton Heights pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lawrence Central. While losing is never fun, Pendleton Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Lawrence Central is ranked first).
The losing side was boosted by Kaycie Warfel, who scored 28 points along with six steals. She scored a full 49.1% of Pendleton Heights' points, the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jones, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Yorktown didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Mississinewa on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 43-39 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Yorktown.
Yorktown found their leader in underclassman Lilly Sylvester, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Sylvester's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Hayley Reece was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Pendleton Heights has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season. As for Yorktown, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Pendleton Heights strolled past Yorktown in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 63-45. Does Pendleton Heights have another victory up their sleeve, or will Yorktown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
