Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A/3A Conference 17 this week, Hoggard beat Laney 24-13. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Vikings.
New Hanover and West Brunswick played the most contested game in the league this week, with New Hanover eventually emerging with a 28-23 victory.
6-foot-1 quarterback Tariq Lane of the Buccaneers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 761. He has also thrown 8 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Randall Emerson. The Hoggard star has 34 catches for 492 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Ashley takes on Laney. As it stands, the Screaming Eagle are in fourth, while Greg Ditz's team is in third.
Topsail made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,991 from 10,190. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 13-7 victory over South Brunswick last week.
