3A South Central recap Nov. 7, 2012
Wasson's Theron Brandt recorded the longest rushing play in 3A South Central this season in his game against Mitchell last week. Brandt's team lost to the Marauders as he sprinted for 95 yards on the play and finished with 215 in all.
Discovery Canyon extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Coronado, 46-41. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Wasson's dynamic duo of Richie Perea and Nate Gessing proved tough for Mitchell to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Perea threw for 387 yards and four touchdowns and Gessing had 163 yards receiving. DJ Hanes helped Wasson's passing attack out by catching four balls for 111 yards.
Zeb Foster made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cougars fell to Discovery Canyon. The 6-foot-0 sophomore recorded one fumble and grabbed 0.5 sack.
Aaron Wright was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 404 yards on 46 carries as Archie Malloy III's team lost to Archie Malloy III's team. Teammate Preston Williams added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
The Thunderbirds' Perea and Hanes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A South Central in both passing and receiving yards. Perea has thrown for 2093 yards this season, while Hanes has 51 catches for 984 yards. Wright from the Marauders leads the league in rushing with 2034 yards.
Brandt has rushed for 911 yards on 157 carries so far this year.
Accruing a total of 16 touchdowns this year, Nate Conner has thrown for 1869 yards with nine interceptions.
