Gateway is 1-7 against Skyview since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Olympians will head out to square off against the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Gateway will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Gateway is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Jefferson on Saturday as they made off with a 26-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Olympians, who have now won four matchups by 14 runs or more so far this season.
Westin Rayburn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rayburn was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gateway got a massive performance out of Kalai Bentosino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. Bentosino is becoming a predictor of the Olympians' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Jakob Petersen was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
Gateway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .838. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Skyview's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Montbello on Saturday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.
Skyview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Andrew Casillas also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Gateway pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.7 runs over those games. As for Skyview, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gateway has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Gateway came out on top in a nail-biter against Skyview when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Olympians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
