The Academy with Community Partners Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Trinity Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Academy with Community Partners got the win against 91st Psalm Christian School by a conclusive 63-39. The win was just what Academy with Community Partners needed coming off of a 66-35 defeat in their prior match.
Academy with Community Partners' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reymend Hernandez, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hernandez has scored all season. Ohzeaya Carson was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They took down Orme 48-34. Given Trinity Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Orme is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Academy with Community Partners is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Trinity Christian, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
