Garfield is 1-7 against Eastside Catholic since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on December 5th. After both having extra time off, the pair will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th.
Last Friday, Garfield had to suffer through a rough 49-13 loss at the hands of O'Dea. While losing is never fun, Garfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while O'Dea is ranked second).
Meanwhile, Eastside Catholic can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Rainier Beach, posting a 42-0 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Eastside Catholic sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jake Tiryakioglu was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Garfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Eastside Catholic, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
