Limestone hasn't had much luck against Washington recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rockets will challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Limestone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Limestone will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Jacksonville on Friday. The Rockets came out on top against the Crimsons by a score of 16-11. The Rockets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Dylan Bitner, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alec Williams, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Limestone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Washington made sure to put some runs up on the board against Streator on Saturday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-3 win. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke Kamienski was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Micah McCoy was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He also snagged a stolen base, marking his first of the season. Carter Prina was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Washington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Limestone, their record is now 11-8.
Limestone might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Washington in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
