The HomeSchool Resource Center Patriots were the 57-53 winner over the Hammond Baptist Swordsmen when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. HomeSchool Resource Center fell to the Swordsmen 48-43. While losing is never fun, HomeSchool Resource Center can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 427th in Illinois, while the Swordsmen are ranked 65th in Indiana).
HomeSchool Resource Center's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason O'Neal, who scored 17 points along with three steals. O'Neal is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Edrick Jefferson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks.
HomeSchool Resource Center's defeat dropped their record down to 14-16. As for Hammond Baptist, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
HomeSchool Resource Center will head out on the road to square off against the at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hammond Baptist does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
