AAA District 8 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Trey Burks of Tullahoma ran for the longest rushing play in AAA District 8 this season against White County last week. Burks ran for 89 yards on the play and finished with 292 on the day as his team beat the Warriors.
Tullahoma made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,346 from 5,124. The advance stemmed from a 37-13 victory over White County last week.
John Olive's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Justin Brown threw for 70 and one touchdown and Caleb Olive had 32 yards receiving. Riley Darden helped Tullahoma's passing attack out by catching three balls for 28 yards.
The Wildcats' Brown and Zane Price have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 1671 yards this season, while Price has 40 catches for 586 yards. Layton Wells from Franklin County leads the league in rushing with 881 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Tullahoma takes on Columbia Central. The Wildcats have allowed 232 points this season, while the Lions have given up 186. Tullahoma allowed 13 points last week as it beat Matthan Houser's team.
