3A Region I District 8 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Brownwood was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 11th to ninth in 3A Region I District 8. Earlier in the week, the Lions defeated Sweetwater 28-13.
Gatesville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating La Vega, 49-48. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Hornets.
Liberty Hill's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brandon Wells threw for 25 yards and Joseph Dudgeon had 25 yards receiving. On the ground Will Fromme chipped in 154 yards.
Liberty Hill's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wells has thrown for 122 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Dudgeon has three catches for 54 yards. Jesse Perez leads the league in rushing with 692 yards.
Gatesville moved up to 54 from 143 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region I District 8. A 49-48 win over the Pirates helped the Hornets improve their standing.
