Baseball Recap: Peninsula Wins Going Away Against Lakes

Peninsula won against Lakes last Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Seahawks put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 8-1 victory. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Pete Browand made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Daniel Sleeter looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaac Schultz-Tait, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted over his last eight matchups. Kaleb Copeland was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Peninsula has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7 runs. As for Lakes, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Peninsula will face off against Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Gators will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Seahawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakes, they will challenge Gig Harbor at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tides will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight.
