Foard is 0-3 against Alexander Central since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Foard Tigers will jump right back in to play the Alexander Central Cougars at 10:30 a.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Foard struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (Maiden had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Foard took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maiden. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Foard has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Foard saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Holden Caldwell, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Bess, who scored nine points.
Foard struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Alexander Central had to settle for a 51-48 loss against St. Stephens on Wednesday. Alexander Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Alexander Central, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Chad Lasher led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. Jayon Connor was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Foard has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Alexander Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Foard hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57.2 points per game. However, it's not like Alexander Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 55.2 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Foard was taken down by Alexander Central 60-20 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Foard, Evan Presnell (who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
