The Lamar County Trojans had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They claimed a resounding 43-0 victory over Crawford County on the road. Given Lamar County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Crawford County is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lamar County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zyquavius Hughley, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Hughley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Kenyae Barnes also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Lamar County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.3 points per game. As for Crawford County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Lamar County will be playing at home against Heard County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heard County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Crawford County, they will head out on the road to face off against Temple at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
