Cranbrook Kingswood is 0-4 against Cabrini since April of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cranes will take on the Monarchs at 4:30 p.m. Cranbrook Kingswood has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lutheran Northwest hit Cranbrook Kingswood with a 18-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cranes came up short against the Crusaders, falling 23-13.
Cabrini came out on top against Detroit Cristo Rey two weeks ago thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run first inning. The Monarchs blew past the WOLVES 17-7. The win continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the WOLVES: they've now won six in a row.
Catherine Schumm was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Jodi Browning was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Elena DelCotto, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Cabrini kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 12.4.
Cabrini's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-10. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.7 runs over those games. As for Cranbrook Kingswood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Cranbrook Kingswood might still be hurting after the 23-2 loss they got from Cabrini in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Cranes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
