The Crab Orchard Trojans will head out to take on the Gallatin County Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Crab Orchard is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Monday just wasn't the day for Crab Orchard's offense. They fell 4-0 to Hamilton County on Monday.
Crab Orchard saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Watts, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Cade Anderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Gallatin County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield on Thursday. The Hawks never let the Fighting Cardinals get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Fighting Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Casen Steele made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Steele was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Gallatin County got a massive performance out of Grant Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Jackson has become a key player for the Hawks: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Talan Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Gallatin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Crab Orchard's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Gallatin County, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Crab Orchard might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Gallatin County in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
