Rushford-Peterson hasn't had much luck against Chatfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Trojans will square off against the Gophers at 4:30 p.m.
Rushford-Peterson's last matchup with Wabasha-Kellogg could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Monday. The Trojans lost 19-2 to the Falcons. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.
Rushford-Peterson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Torryn Schneider, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Chatfield put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past La Crescent 12-4. The Gophers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Rylee Urban made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season.
In other batting news, Grace Finley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Kendall Knutson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Chatfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Chatfield pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.2 runs this season. As for Rushford-Peterson, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Rushford-Peterson might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Chatfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
