Even though The Coronado Mustangs scored an imposing 34 points on Thursday, the Tascosa Rebels still came out on top. Everything went Tascosa's way against Coronado as Tascosa made off with a 56-34 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Tascosa just coasted through the last quarter.
Tascosa found their leader in underclassman Coltyn Fulton, who threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Tascosa also got a significant boost from Andrew Merrell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.
Coronado's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Vazquez, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 134 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Demarion Finch, who rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
Tascosa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Coronado, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Tascosa will head out on the road to face off against Del Valle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Valle will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Coronado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
