The Poston Butte Broncos will face off against the Coconino Panthers at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Poston Butte will be strutting in after a win while Coconino will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Poston Butte turned things around against Mohave on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Thunderbirds a 12-0 shutout. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Broncos this season.
Isael Aguilera made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Poston Butte is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Aguilera was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Poston Butte got a massive performance out of Cordd Baker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Baker a new career-high in doubles (two). Landon Brewer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Poston Butte hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Coconino came up short against Mingus on Friday, falling 14-4.
Steven Stone was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that he launched this season.
Poston Butte's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Coconino, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11-1.
Poston Butte's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Broncos have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Coconino, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Poston Butte continue to outrun the ball?
Poston Butte took their win against Coconino in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
