Baseball Game Preview: Collinsville Kahoks vs. Belleville East Lancers

The Collinsville Kahoks will take on the Belleville East Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Collinsville will be strutting in after a win while Belleville East will be coming in after a defeat.

Collinsville took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Carbondale as they made off with a 13-5 victory. The Kahoks not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29th (when they won 15-0).

Tyler Hunterbrinker looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Collinsville let Luke Robinson and Carter Harrington run wild. Robinson went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run, while Harrington went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Robinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Darden, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Belleville East has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 16-1 to Triad. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Reid Neumayer was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Belleville East's defeat dropped their record down to 19-14. As for Collinsville, their win bumped their record up to 13-18.
