Baseball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes.

Cameron Skaggs stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Meece, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Skaggs wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Northeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6-1.

Northeast has already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Dobyns-Bennett on the 14th. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-7 win against Campbell County on the 14th.
