This season hasn't been kind to the Shorecrest Prep Chargers, who are still winless after their eighth game. They suffered a rough 43-18 defeat at the hands of Hollins on Saturday. Shorecrest Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hollins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Hollins found their leader in underclassman Summer Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Morgan has scored at least a third of Hollins' points. Another player making a difference was Danaja Moss, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Shorecrest Prep bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hollins, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shorecrest Prep will take on Clearwater Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clearwater Central Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shorecrest Prep in Florida (Clearwater Central Catholic is ranked 116th, while Shorecrest Prep is ranked 619th). As for Hollins, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against St. Petersburg Catholic at 12:45 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Elise Graham and Morgan.
