Hannah Prestininzi was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Haley Mingle and Avery Owens did most of the damage at the plate: Mingle went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Owens went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Mingle a new career-high.
Gibson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Houston narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Brighton 5-4.
Madeleine McClure spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Lindsey Barnes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylea Howell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Gibson County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Houston, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14.
