Softball Recap: Destin Wins Going Away Against Pensacola

Destin won the last time they faced Pensacola and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Sharks were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Sharks have won 12 games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aspen Benscoter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Destin got a massive performance out of Anita Palmer, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Palmer has posted since back in March. Keelie Ellis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Destin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Destin's record is now 14-10. As for Pensacola, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

As of now, neither Destin nor Pensacola have any future games scheduled.
