The Dickinson Gators will square off against the Alief Taylor Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dickinson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 23 contests -- so hopefully Alief Taylor likes a good challenge.
Even though Clear Brook scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Dickinson still came out on top. Dickinson secured a 61-55 W over Clear Brook. Given Dickinson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Clear Brook is ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dickinson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ciara Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Jazmine Hansley, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and five steals. Hansley hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Devyn Turner, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Alief Taylor took a serious blow against Pearland on Wednesday, falling 77-50. Alief Taylor has struggled against Pearland recently, as their game on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Dickinson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 22 of their last 23 games, which provided a nice bump to their 30-4 record this season. As for Alief Taylor, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 19-14.
Dickinson beat Alief Taylor 35-28 in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dickinson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
