The Maclay Marauders are taking a road trip to challenge the Leon Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Maclay picked up another tournament win last Saturday. Everything went their way against Seabreeze as Maclay made off with a 61-39 victory.

12/28/24 vs Seabreeze | 16 |
12/20/23 vs Godby | 16 |
12/02/23 vs St. John Paul II | 14 |
12/04/23 vs Crossroad Academy | 1 |
Maclay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nash Beshears out in front who posted 16 points. That's the most points Beshears has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lunt, who put up 19 points.
Meanwhile, Leon entered their tilt with Lincoln on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They managed a 59-54 victory over the Trojans.
Maclay better focus on containing DeKendrick Williams and Tristen Thompson as the pair were huge in Leon's win. Williams went 7 of 14 on his way to 20 points, while Thompson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Williams continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alphonza Gammons, who had seven points.
Leon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.
Leon's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Maclay, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Maclay and Leon are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Maclay hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55 points per game. However, it's not like Leon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 57 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for Maclay against Leon when the teams last played back in December of 2022, as the squad secured a 68-40 win. Will Maclay repeat their success, or does Leon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
