Edgewood hasn't had much luck against Ross recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Cougars will welcome the Rams at 12:00 p.m.
Edgewood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Talawanda, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars fell just short of the Brave by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday.
Jaylee Rose was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season. Evelyn Henson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.
Franklin typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Ross proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Wildcats 12-3. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Paige Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ross got a massive performance out of Kam Commins, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Commins has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Olivia Powers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Ross kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Ross pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
Edgewood suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Ross when the teams last played back in April. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
