The San Antonio Christian Lions were the 34-27 winner over the St. Anthony Yellowjackets when they last played one another on January 5th, but their luck changed this time around. San Antonio Christian fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 48-45. San Antonio Christian has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Alejandra Vargas was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 assists for St. Anthony. It was the first time this season that Vargas scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lisette Vargas, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks.
San Antonio Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for St. Anthony, their win bumped their record up to 15-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Antonio Christian will challenge the Barons on Tuesday. As for St. Anthony, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bloodhounds at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
